Meno Fortas Theatre artistic team of “The Idiot” was recently nominated to prestigious Lithuanian award – “Golden stage cross”. This ward is given to the most outstanding stage works of 2009 - 2010 theatre season. Director Eimuntas Nekrosius claims to prize for the best production of the year – “The Idiot” by Fiodor Dostoevsky. Actor Salvijus Trepulis (Rogozin) is listed among the best main actors, Diana Gancevskaite (Aglaya) and Vytautas Rumsas (General Ivolgin) are nominated for the best secondary role. In the category of debuting actor - interpreter of Myshkin – Daumantas Ciunis is presented. The awards will be given on International Theatre Day – March 27 at Lithuanian Ministry of Culture.

February gives a nice chance to see the symbolic meeting of the longest running and the brand new performances of Eimuntas Nekrošius, directed under the flag of “Theatre Meno fortas”.

Not every willing Lithuanian theater lover had an opportunity to see the brand new play by Eimuntas Nekrošius, “The Idiot”, based on the novel by Russian classic Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Tickets to the premier performance in Vilnius had been sold out in a few days and Russian drama theatre hall was not big enough to accommodate everyone willing. After the premiere performances in Italy and autumn tours of “Theatre Meno fortas” in Portugal, Saint Petersburg, Poland and Moscow, “The Idiot” will be back in Lithuania. On November 25th and 26th it will be performed in Lithuanian National drama theatre.

„Meno fortas" is in the process of intensive work lately. Eimuntas Nekrošius and his troupe is rehearsing a new play, based on F. Dostoevsky‘s „The Idiot". The premier is supposed to take place in Vilnius in May.
